Inspection and Condition Assessment

EMI partnered with a New York City based engineering firm to assist this leading Hotel owner with a condition assessment of this Oceanside property.

Air salinity had oxidized steel within the exposed balcony portions of the structure, but the extent of corrosion was unknown.

EMI coordinated the engineering study, repair programming and cost estimates for the repairs by a review of existing drawings, determination of the structural design of the balcony system, visual inspection and sounding of all exterior elevation concrete surfaces. EMI also cored and drilled the balconies at various locations to extract powder samples for chloride content testing.
