Northwestern Suburban Hospital
This hospital, located in Chicago's Northwest suburbs, is one of the largest hospitals in the Chicago-Metro area. Eugene Matthews removed and replaced over 12,000 brick along nearly 1,900 lineal feet of shelf angle. Shelf angle was also replaced or repaired as needed. A horizontal expansion joint was installed beneath the angle and all shelf angles were completely reflashed to inhibit water penetration. A nine-story corner was completely rebuilt with 4,000 brick, with new flashing at the shelf angle and new vertical and horizontal expansion joints. Additional masonry repairs included limestone dutchman installation, the installation of 2,500 stainless steel anchors, as well as the installation of 550 Dur-O-Wall anchors. Upon completion of the masonry repair work, all of the windows were recaulked and over 21,000 square feet of brick and limestone facade was cleaned.
