Limestone & Terra Cotta Repair

This six-story terra cotta, limestone clad building is located on the busy intersection of Belmont and Sheffield on Chicago's North Side. EMI replaced 250 feet of shelf angle and associated masonry in addition to 8000 bricks. The existing window frames were cladded in aluminum and all sealant on the building was replaced. The project also involved the removal, repair, and resetting of at least 150 terra cotta or limestone pieces with new cast stone. Additional work included grinding and pointing of approximately 1500 square feet of brick and limestone joints.
